About IEE

The School of Information and Electronic Engineering (referred to as the School of Information and Electronics) is one of the earliest three departments established at Zhejiang Gongshang University. It began admitting undergraduate students in 1979 and has a long history of education, with a total of 7,630 graduates to date. The college offers a primary discipline master's program in Information and Communication Engineering, recognized as a key discipline in Zhejiang Province and a first-class discipline. The secondary disciplines include Communication and Information Systems, Signal and Information Processing, and Information Networks and Security, each offering a master's program. Additionally, the college is qualified to cultivate engineering master's students in the field of electronic and communication engineering. The discipline ranks among the top 30%-40% nationwide.

The college offers four undergraduate majors: Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things Engineering (formerly Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments before 2016). The major of Electronic Information Engineering is designated as a key construction major, an advantageous major, and a distinctive major in Zhejiang Province. Furthermore, the college provides a Telecommunication Engineering undergraduate program and an Information and Communication Engineering master's program, both conducted entirely in English. As of mid-2022, the total number of students enrolled is 1,593, including 1,257 undergraduates, 336 master's students, and 18 international students.

The college consists of five teaching departments: Electronic Information Engineering Department, Communication Engineering Department, Artificial Intelligence Department, Internet of Things Engineering Department, and Physics Teaching and Research Office. It also has three experimental centers: University Physics Experimental Teaching Center, Network and Communication Technology Experimental Center, and Electronic Engineering and Information Processing Experimental Center. Additionally, there are two school-level research institutes in Network and Communication Engineering and Signal and Information Technology.

The college currently employs 98 staff members, including 75 full-time teachers (including double-duty teachers). Among them, 20 have senior professional titles (including professors, researchers, and professor-level senior engineers), and 30 have associate senior professional titles (including associate professors, associate researchers, and senior experimentalists). There are 64 individuals with a Ph.D. or postdoctoral qualification, and over 92% of the teachers hold doctoral or master's degrees. The college has five Ph.D. supervisors, 39 master's supervisors, three nationally appointed experts, one recipient of the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program," and nine talents under the "151" program in Zhejiang Province (including three in the first tier). Moreover, there are six young academic leaders in Zhejiang Province's universities.

The college has well-equipped teaching facilities, covering 10,000 square meters of experimental, research, and office space. It includes six basic and professional teaching laboratories, two discipline laboratories, and 24 central and provincial financial special laboratories. The Network and Communication Experiment Center is recognized as the Zhejiang Provincial Experimental Demonstration Center, and the "New Network Standard and Application Technology Laboratory" is designated as a key laboratory in Zhejiang Province. The total assets of experimental instruments exceed 49 million yuan, and the library has a collection of over 6,000 books and more than 30 academic journals.

The college has conducted in-depth research in areas such as network and communication technology, internet technology, intelligent information processing, and quantum information processing. It has achieved significant research results and made important breakthroughs in research project levels. In recent years, it has won one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one second prize of the Excellent Research Achievement Award of the Ministry of Education, one first prize of the Zhejiang Provincial Technical Invention Award, one second prize of the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award, and one second prize of the Zhejiang Provincial Educational Achievement Award. The college has developed five international standards for the internet, published 155 first-tier papers, and had 418 papers included in ESI, SCI, EI, and CPCI-S. Additionally, it has been granted 307 invention patents, received funding for 45 national projects, led four projects under the National Ministry of Science and Technology's 863 Program (the first among provincial universities), and led one project under the National Ministry of Science and Technology's 973 Program (the second among provincial universities). The research funding obtained amounts to 89.16 million yuan, with 46.4 million yuan for vertical project funding.
