Welcome to School of Information & Electronic Engineering!

Subject

I. Overview of the Discipline

Affiliated with the School of Information and Electronic Engineering, the discipline began admitting undergraduate students in 1979, master's students in 2001, and achieved a first-level master's degree designation in Information and Communication Engineering in 2011. Currently, it is actively preparing for the establishment of a first-level interdisciplinary discipline in Intelligent Science and Technology. In 2020, it gained approval from the Ministry of Education to establish the first Sino-foreign cooperative school of artificial intelligence鈥擖/span>the Sussex Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Zhejiang Gongshang University. With over 7,600 graduates to date, the discipline offers four undergraduate majors and two master's programs, positioning itself as a top-notch discipline and a key discipline in Zhejiang Province. The faculty includes 5 national-level talents and 10 provincial-level talents, contributing to two national-level platforms and six provincial-level platforms. The discipline has formulated five international standards and garnered multiple awards, including a national second-class award, a Ministry of Education second-class award, a first-class award for technological invention in Zhejiang Province, two second-class awards for technological progress in Zhejiang Province, and a first and second-class award each for natural science in Zhejiang Province. In terms of teaching achievements, it has received one national second-class award and one provincial second-class award.

II. Discipline Directions and Distinctive Advantages

Adapting to the economic and industrial needs of Zhejiang Province, the discipline has established three key directions:

Communication and Information Systems:

Addressing the demands of industry leaders such as 3Nod Group, DeepBlue Technology, and Xingwang Ruijie, the discipline has conducted over a decade of research in communication theory and the architecture of next-generation network equipment. This effort has led to the formulation of five international standards, 50 patented inventions, and a cumulative increase in output value exceeding 3.391 billion RMB.

Signal and Information Processing:

Catering to the needs of thousands of small and medium-sized electronic product manufacturing enterprises in Zhejiang Province, the discipline has engaged in over two decades of research and development in device design, equipment manufacturing, and intelligent systems. With over 400 served enterprises, more than 200 patented inventions transferred, it has fostered more than ten industry-leading enterprises.

Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing:

Addressing the demands of Zhejiang Province's marine, automotive, and aerospace industries, the discipline has collaborated with Huawei to research intelligent supercomputing software and systems based on a nationwide hardware and software platform. The results have supported exascale computing and ten thousand-core acceleration, overcoming foreign software parallel scale limitations.

III. Talent Cultivation Objectives

The discipline aims to cultivate new engineering talents who adhere to scientific and technological ethics, possess a rich humanistic spirit, are familiar with the cutting-edge theories of the discipline, have a solid understanding of relevant software and hardware development technologies, and can comprehensively apply disciplinary knowledge. These talents are expected to scientifically solve problems in communication engineering, including system modeling, design and analysis of signal and information processing systems, device design and development, and intelligent device research, demonstrating a certain level of innovation capability.
